I just tried the 70% rubbing alcohol on tree sap…I tested it on the paint inside my trunk first….just in case it might hurt the paint………..no harm to the paint and the alcohol took the sap right OFF..!!!..no smearing…no streaking….perfect…and QUICK..!!!

I tried all of these suggestions, with mixed and unsatisfying results. My wife suggested Citrasolv (also spelled Citra solv) in concentrated form. Waited for a warm/hot day when the sap was soft. Put some Citrasolv on a shop rag and smeared a little on the actual spot, and after a couple of seconds started wiping until the sap was gone. Doesn't take long, don't have to rub particularly hard, doesn't leave a halo or indication that sap was there at all. I had sap all over my car so I was a wiping fool, and afterwards I ran it through a car wash. Sap is gone, no damage to the car paint or clear coat.

I have cars that are ready in need of deep cleaning! I’m almost wondering, should I just wash first, then pour bottle of alcohol on whole car? One section at time? Then what does anyone recommend for protecting? We don’t have a garage and have lots of hackberry trees in our yard? Everything outside is sticky including our cars! Thanks for any advice!
