If there are any engineers out there, why would an auto maker use an odd size like 13/16ths? I can't picture 3/4 being insufficient

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Andy says:

why would you never want to loosen a castle nut?

I have the exact vehicle same color and all and the tie rods may need replaced soon, very helpful tip on the alignment nut!

Also, mevotech supreme, besides Mevotech TTX, is the best parts for this vehicle! You can grease them as much as you want because they have a one way overflow valve

Or you could count the turns

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Clark says:

Not bad Chris but if you want the new one exactly where the old one was just count the number of turns to take the old one off and screw in the new one the same number.

Why did you create 3 videos on tie rod replacement, Chris? Are they different?

I just put a new sway bar for my Oldsmobile silhouette. Had to remove the tie rods to install the bar to fit underneath. When I tried to remove the nut, the entire part spun inside & with no way to hold it secure, the nut stayed on. The only way I could remove it was to use a cutting wheel to cut the nut & shaft flush to the surface. It came out easily with a pickle fork.

I hadn't planned on replacing them but, that just added to the aggravation & extra cost.

Yea that fluid mix for removing nuts and parts has been great for me.
    Thanks!
