Here is a third way to fix the alignment issue. It's almost magical.
Spend $15 and buy a new bracket and then adjust the indicator.
Some hack tried to glue mine back together instead of doing the repair properly. It broke.
    Shazaam.

Thanks Chris. I always watch your vids when I need to fix my 2000 Mazda B3000 3.0L 4×4 . I rebuilt my engine and replaced my trany, transfer case, rear end and I watched your vids to do that. I really do appreciate it.

Automatic Transmission Shift Indicator letters are messed up. Can I just paint the buttons?

hey chris i know this is an old video but this is happening on my 2002 f150. it’s super super close to the 2, could this be the reason for misfire? i’ve taken it to shops and they can’t find any codes on the engine and the park plugs are in great condition

Your video helped me find out how fucked my shifter was. Went out and got a newish one for 10 bucks from the scrap yard. My truck shifts like new and is perfectly aligned. Thank you.

Good afternoon, Chris. I followed the steps here up the the little black gear/wheel. Yes, the white collar is broken, but even screwing the wheel fully out or in doesn’t alter the shifter indicator “pointer” in the front panel. Do you have another suggestion?
    Thanks, AB

Chrisfix my 1996 shifter is not disengaging from park to any gear – start’s no problem but have to grind on shifter many times to move into a gear – any ideal what the cause might be and how to fix it? Thanks

Thank you. Fixed it in less than 20 mins, been bothering me for years. The plastic wasn't even broken, the wheel thing just got loose. I have to replace my ball joints, and the shop quoted me over $500 to do that and an alignment….. Gonna find your video on that, and try it myself. This is the point of YouTube. Thanks Chris

Thanks for sharing this video. I also have found that plastic bracket is been sold on ebay made out of metal so it won't break on you.

That is why plastics suck. That part should be steel.

The video was good enough to get me through the fix this weekend for my 2002 f-150. Take your time. Be mindful of the three different sockets you need. More screws for my truck that the one shown but the fix is spot on. I was actually amazed everything went as well as it did. Thanks.
