How to test a fuel pump. Learn how to test your fuel pressure, how to test your fuel pressure regulator, and how to test your fuel pump.
This video will show you how to diagnose your fuel system. If your car is idling or running weird (high idle, low idle, hard to accelerate, studdering, hard to start) then this is one of the first tests you should do. Diagnose high fuel pressure, low fuel pressure, a broken check valve in the fuel pump, broken fuel pressure regulator, or leaking injectors.
Here is the fuel pressure tester I used: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0053NZXQA/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0053NZXQA&linkCode=as2&tag=chri0e2-20&linkId=WJD6YBALKBYZIPAE

    Chris, you are the man.
I recently bought a 94 C4 so will be checking this soon. Your videos are a great help.
My C4 is bogging and misfiring badly under load. Seems to be find in Neutral. Was wondering if you had any ideas what may be causing it. I'm thinking either fuel pump or spark plugs? I did change the fuel filter but same issue is there.

So what happens in the "danger zone"? I'm seeing random detonation/pings under load. My pressure (if gauge is correct) is 21 with vacuum and 30 without. But my trims are barely elevated like 6-10%

Thank you very much. Your video helped us determine our problem. It was the fuel injectors on a 2006 Ford 4.0L engine.

Could a fast drop be due to a stuck open fuel injector?

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Micah Goodman says:

It needs 4 things to run. Fuel, Fire, Compression and timing. I don't know how many people get stumped by the last one.

For reference, what bar rating is your FPR?

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Xserabis says:

I'd say that perfect fuel pressure in PORT injected engine is 3.2bar (320kpa). Minimum for good work is 2.8 bar (280kpa), and max is 4bar (400kpa). Unless Your car is port injected & boosted. Then You should add boost to those numbers (1bar = 14.7psi. Call it 1bar = 15psi to have easier calculations). And don't push Your fuel rails, lines over their max rating!
    Have a great day!
