Learn how to put in sound deadening and heat reflective material into your car. In this case I was preventing a common wet carped problem due to condensation. The exhaust runs right under the floorboards and causes a lot of condensation and over time that causes the carpets to get damp.

Always use this type of insulation next to the heat source. Not under the carpet. There is another type of insulation made by dei for use under carpet.

I have this problem (wet under the carpet), but believe it's a heater core leak. I'm also leery of messing around with insulation because of unintended consequences. It would be great if logical solutions always worked, but sometimes they create new problems. On the plus side, I wouldn't have found the possible heater core leak if I hadn't been inspired to work on my car by people like Chris Fix and Pan the Organizer. Many thanks for your great videos and generosity in sharing your knowledge!

I bet when he watched this, he thought to himself, "why didn't I put the fold going the other way, so it would shed water form any future leaks, or spills, instead of trapping it?".

You preferably want to put the insulation on the undercarriage, putting it under the carpet is a bad idea as yes it will keep the heat from reaching the carpet, though will not stop condensation from forming between the insulation and the floor, this will travel to the carpet again with enough time!
