Since we removed the door panels and the car door handles I needed a way to open the doors on the endurance car. So in this video I show you how to install DIY door pulls with some steel cable so you can open the door and get out of the race car quickly!
Hey guys chris fix here and today, i'm going to show you how to make a door pull for your race car we're not going to be using my keychain, because you can see already it's tearing this isn't safe enough. So what we're going to be using is a metal wire like this, with a plastic sleeve that way it's safe. If it catches fire the car, you don't have to worry about this disintegrating. The metal wire will always be there.
It's a nice big loop and easy and safe to pull so first we're going to take our wire and slip it through this little slot here so that we can make a good connection and you can see the ends of the wire. Don't have any plastic sheathing! Now you want to get your proper size crimp and get that in like that and finally get your crimpers and you want to find the right size, crimper spot like that, right there and just crimp down nice and hard. And finally, because this is sharp at the end - let's add a little bit of heat shrink to the end, and now it won't scratch up the door panel and cut you all right. Let's try it out beautiful and that's a chris fix, quick tip.
If your car is on fire to the point where the Christian tag has burned/melted away, I don't think your main concern will be opening the door anymore.
Wouldn't it be easier to open the door if the handle was coming from the front instead of back?
Chris can you do a repair on brake shift light on your mustang my shift gear gets stuck when I turn on my car. Thank you love the videos 👍🏽
excited for the fire system video of the Lemons car. Hope it drops soon!
I love how you made a “race car” that is not super expressive, looks great, and it is really cool!
Just a side note. Plastic sleeve would not be safe to grab during a fire. While would be safer than the fire you would be in. But we’ll melt to you
hey chris can you find out if there is a way to get a shaker intake manifold for a 95 mustang 5.0 efi i really want one
I don’t even own a car myself but your videos are super entertaining, I can tell you’re my favorite YouTuber
If the fires bad enough to ruin the keychain that’s gonna hurt pulling the metal 😂, but I guess better than being stuck
Hey @chrisfix I'm doing a home radio install, any tips? I'm a beginner
great thing is this could also work if you busted a door handle off or something and want to jury rig it
I, too, have been watching you for years. However, I think you're moving too far from your base. Sad.
this guy is the reason i’m starting my own business doing what i love and staying out of trouble and in the right path towards success in life
Will you secure it to the door closer to the part you pull or will you leave it like that?
You can loop it around a smooth piece of metal, so you can pull it instead of push
So many seemingly small details—makes you appreciate all of the work that goes into making race cars safe.
I came from the Instagram story, you should also do this on TikTok too
