Hey guys chris fix here with a chris fix, quick tip on how to remove rust from steel. In this case, we have a bunch of tools and a bunch of rusty fasteners, and the best part is. This trick removes all the rust. There won't be one speck of rust, left and we're using products that you guys already have at home.
You could use vinegar or ketchup. Any mild acid will work. So, let's get started and to show you how well this works. Here's a before and after now the first step is to spray down the rusty parts with soapy water and then clean them up to remove any grease from the surface.
Next get all the rusty parts into a container and soak everything in vinegar make sure all the parts are submerged and just to show you. The ketchup works as well. We'll cover the needle nose pliers with the ketchup. Now all you need to do is let it soak and i'm going to let it soak for about four to six hours and to know it's working.
Just look for the hydrogen bubbles bubbling off the rust six hours later and, let's see the results, so add some baking soda to water and put all the parts in there and mix it around to neutralize the acid and finally spray it all down. With a light oil to prevent rust and check out these before and afters, the results speak for themselves and that's a chris fix, quick tip on how to remove rust.
In my experience acid based toilet bowl cleaner, or muriatic acid work alot faster.

I have never seen ketchup lol. Evaporust soak cleaned up my crusty bolts pretty well!
Hey, I have a very small amount of rust on the top left hood of my mazda 3, about the size of your thumb. Would using either method work to get rid of it?
We used the ketchup to remove rust .Now let's use the fries to polish the paint.

I work at an engine shop and I manually do this with either sand paper or a wire wheel. It’s a pain when I have to get rid of the rust on every bolt that came off of an engine from the 70’s
But I don't like ketchup. Can I use a nice garlic aioli? (This is a joke, so …)
