Fix a loose column shifter on ford vehicles. This video will show you how to fix your loose column shifter for an automatic car, specifically a Ford, Mazda, Lincoln, or Mercury. A loose shifter can prevent your car from starting because you cant get into Park or Neutral. It can also leave you stranded by not allowing you to get into Reverse or Drive. I will show you how to identify the problem, tighten the bolts and prevent the problem from occurring again in the future.

Thank u so much for this!! I thought I’d have to tow it and all the hassle and expense..
Yeah, that column is shared across a lot of Ford vehicles a lot a shit ton
Thank you save my life
What is the part that the screws are screwing into ? If that makes sense my one of my bolts broke off now I gotta extract it
Thanks still have loose shifter but that arm is tight
Great video ChrisFix I thought I had bad linkage or something and it was gonna be a nightmare to fix
Thats strange, the 90’s taurus sho’s were all manuals and had a top speed of 140 MPH
Not an easy fix at all. It's almost impossible to get to this bolts, still figuring out how to get there without removing half of the dash. Idk maybe on other models it's easier but on 04 ranger it's hard af. Anyway thanks for the information
Where the 2 screws go in.. is there a name for that? When I found out it was loose it’s cause 1 of the screws fell out.. then when I tried to screw one back in I found out that part was broken..
I love you
What is that pun in the middle for?
I wasn't even able to get my van into park. I thought it wasn't starting because something like a starter relay or my solenoid was bad. But nope. Found a gold colored screw on my floor three days ago. Saw this video just now and was like "wait a minute". Took a look. Found a missing screw spot, put it in. And boom. No wonder it wasn't starting. Damn thing was never in park to begin with. Fucking hell the smallest of things create the stupidest of problems.
Somehow, your videos are the first to come up when I'm trying to fix something specific in my cars, dude, you my friend are a godsend.
Great seeing this video and seeing you now. Come along way my man. Congratulations on the hard work 👏 💪
The metal piece the screws are screwed into what is it called mine is broke
Big fan ChrisFix! Without a doubt the best at explaining the entire process. Thank you!
Chris coming in clutch once again !!!
