I always connect the black with the black and the red with the red 😂. I don’t know I don’t suppose to, I thought it was that way because my dad shows me and now I know it’s dangerous.
Can you explain the significance of your connecting sequence? I have always started with holding the two red clamps with my two hands, making sure they touch nothing, then connect red clamp to dead battery's red post, then with the free hand pick up the black clamp and clamp to the dead battery's black post, then with the free hand pick up the remaining black clamp and attach to good battery's black post, and finally attaching the red clamp in my other hand to the red post of the good battery. My logic is to connect the live wire last. Is this not a good sequence?
This confuses the heck out of me. So both terminals connect to the good battery, and the bad battery only the red one?

VERY VERY HELPFUL!! My son's friend left his headlights on all night! My husband wasn't home and my two sons and their friends didn't know how to jump start the car so I looked in my van and found the jumper cables and I went on You Tube and punched in how to jump start a car and yours was the first one to come up.
