Recharge your AC system properly. I go though all of the steps on how to safely charge your air conditioning system with refrigerant. First you need to evacuate the system, then pull a vacuum, and then add the correct amount of refrigerant based on weight.

This is the best youtube video on this subject I've found. Just one thing though, just before you add r134 you close both valves, purge the line, start the truck and only open the low side. Since the HP side is reading something, I have to assume it needs to be open.
So, just not sure at what point exactly it was opened.

If you need to add oil and you follow what you said then together with oil you put into the system air , am i wrong ?

My compressor keeps short cycling after doing this, what did I do wrong? Is it because it’s cold outside?

My question is after putting a new compressor that was leaking about a year , should I replace the drier since it’s been compromised so long ?
It’s a 2017 Toyota Tacoma with drier in the condenser.

So the only time we open the H hose is when we vacuum? I couldnt see if you ever opened it, i saw the L was opened so allow it to charge.

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Marty Mitchell says:

After creating a vacuum, best to release some refrigerant into the system before doing anything else (like starting the car). You want to change from a low pressure (vacuum) to a high pressure (charge) sooner than later. Once you have some charge in the system, you can start the car and continue as you described.
