Belt squeal, squeaky belt, or belt noise? Learn how to quiet a squeaky belt in your car.
I show you how to temporarily quiet the belt using WD40 so that you can drive to the parts store without the annoying squeal. The serpentine belt in your car powers the accessories such as air conditioning, power steering, the alternator, fan, and waterpump. There are three types of serpentine belt wear, pilling, glazing, and abrasion. Pulley wear will cause your pulley to squeak. A worn out pulley bearing or a worn spring in the tension pulley can also cause squeaking.

I'm just hoping I can temporarily fix it so I can save up for a mechanic, I'm sure this is going to cost hundreds and hundreds of dollars to replace

Sure, spray a flammable solvent on your engine and cause long-term damage to electrical connectors and make a sticky mess. Just replace the belt folks, there is no short term solution that is a good solution.

So i recently had a serpentine belt change and I hear squealing from a belt. I originally thought the belt was too loose, so the garage tightened it (and all other belts), however issue still persists. I then go to thinking if its a pulley, which I still suspect might be, but this video gave me pause to maybe it is simply needing a bit of WD40. My squeak is not as severe as in the video and only happens at low revs or while turning so I suspect it could just be that.

The belt I had on my car looked really worn out, but it wasn’t squeaking. I put a new belt on and a new belt tensioner and now it’s squeaking

Don’t use regular WD40. WD40 is a water displaced and has a small lubricating ability but It will attract dust and dirt and make the situation worse , WD40 and others make a specific product (belt dressing) that is much more appropriate.
