Hey guys chris fix here with a chris fix, quick tip on how to install portal hub covers on your hummer so right here we have the stock portal hub cover and then we have our aftermarket one. Now the benefit with this is we have these fins, which is going to help cool that portal hub and cooler hubs means better fluid life and also longer bearing life. Plus. We have this sight glass, which is going to allow you to look in to see the condition of the fluid and, if you have any water in there, if you forward through deep water.
So the first thing we need to do is drain the portal hub, and this fluid is looking pretty good with it completely drained. Next, we can get the plug back in there and snug it up. Now we need to remove the eight bolts holding in the old cover so out with the old, let's lay down a bead of quick set rtv around the entire perimeter and in with the new now, let's snug up these new stainless steel bolts in a crisscross pattern To evenly seat the hub cover, and with that tight now we can add our 80w 90 gear oil until it's filled halfway up the side, glass and finally, the last thing to do is tighten down that fill bolt and we are done.
