Idler pulley squeak? Learn how to fix a squeaky pulley in your car. The serpentine belt in your car powers the accessories such as air conditioning, power steering, the alternator, and waterpump. Pulley wear will cause your pulley to squeak. A worn out pulley bearing or a worn spring in the tension pulley can also cause squeaking. I show you how to use water to identify what type of squeak problem you have and then how to find the problem.

So when i took off my idler pulley where the bolt goes in has been damaged due to the idler pulley mustve been loose rubbing against ut for a while bolt was also a little messed yo and not so straight anymore so im afraid it's mess up the inside which i assume is the bracket that also holds the water pump as well (1996 jeep grand Cherokee laredo v6)

That is the tension pulley not the idle pulley. The idle pulley is grooved.

Hey Chris I am on the side of the road 😢 and I believe my idler pulley is gone. I want to replace it. I have a 2005 sprinter.

My pulley seems to be on the other side of the fan however. Any thoughts. In a diagram I found online I believe it is pulley #7 idler pulley. Just above the alternator.

Is the replacement the same? It looks like the pulley is gone.

    Thanks for any info.
