Learn how to quickly and easily remove studs from an engine with using the two-nut trick! Studs do not have any ends for a wrench or ratchet to grab onto and using a plyers can damage the threads but this method will not damage the threads at all.

Hey guys chris fix here with a chris fix, quick tip on how to remove studs from your engine block. So in this case i am rebuilding my head and we have studs here that need to be removed. We have studs on the exhaust side that need to be removed and studs on the intake side that need to be removed and, unlike a nut or a bolt, there's nothing to grab onto. And you don't want to use a pliers because this will damage the threads.
So let me show you how to remove these. So first, i like to spray some penetrating fluid right where the stud and block meet now as that's soaking in there grab two nuts and thread them on the end of the stud. Just like that, and just like that and now you're gon na grab two wrenches and you're gon na tighten these nuts together, so we're gon na force them into each other and because those nuts are jammed up against each other. They don't unscrew.
Instead, you're unscrewing the entire stud now before you remove the stud completely loosen those jam nuts so that you could unscrew them nice and easily and beautiful now you know how to remove a stud from a block without any special tools. It's that easy.

Good tip. Never reuse these. They are torque to yield -they stretch a bit on installation and need to be replaced for a rebuild. ✌

Would placing the nuts closer to the block help from twisting the stud and breaking if their seized?

Where are the videos you used to do, explaining how to repair entire issues? I only watch YouTube on a computer and these very short upside clips are entirely useless to me and not one inch entertaining either. I don't watch them.
If still struggling ? Heat block with heat gun and spray stud with plumbers freeze spray 😉 . There is a special tool for this , it's a socket with lots of little discs in that grip the stud without damage .
Need to try this on my intake manifold to install a throttle spacer lol
What if you already tried pliers and vice grips completely ruining the threads on the bolt and still can’t get it off? Please I need help. I haven’t been able to drive my car for 4 months

Also you can tap the end of the nuts with a hammer to shock the threads and stud if it is frozen. And if it doesn’t want to come out easily try turning it further in slightly to get the stud to move and then turn the stud out.
